About the South East Black Members Organising Forum
The South East Black Members Organising Forum (BMOF) is a group of elected representatives for Black members in the NEU working to improve equality in workplaces, challenge racism & discriminatory practices.
Black members have many of the same concerns as other members regarding access to employment, pay, promotion and training. However, racist discrimination can deepen the impact of problems faced in the workplace.
Equality legislation provides trade unions with the means to hold employers to account, but the principles of equality can only become a reality in our workplaces if we organise around them and place them on the bargaining agenda with employers.
NEU is committed to increasing its representation and participation of Black educators within the union. It is important that there is a visible and vocal presence of the Black members’ experience. There is a whole spectrum of activity that the Black members can be involved in at District, Regional to National level. Join us in promoting our racial equality agenda.

The NEU uses Black in a political context to encompass “all members who self-identify as Black, Asian and any other minority ethnic groups who do not identify themselves as white".

Our regional network exists to provide Black educators with advice, support and information on dealing with issues in the workplace.
